It is important to follow the terms and conditions set forth by the google adsense program. An important rule which is actually a fairly recent rule is where you cannot have your ads next to pictures unless they are surrounded by borders. There are still several sites that violate this rule so it is important to follow this to keep your adsense account in good standing. There is also a limit to the number of ads you are allowed per page. You are permitted to use 2 link units, 1 search box and 3 ad units per content page. Also keep in mind that your adsense is only allowed to appear on content rich pages such as article pages and such. Do not ever put adsense on a page all by itself otherwise you may risk losing your account and getting banned. There really are not that many rules to the adsense program and so it is a fairly easy program to implement on almost any site. Of course make sure you check the official adsense site to get all the rules which can also change at any time so check that frequently to stay updated. So following the rules is easy but it is usually not enough to maximize your income from the adsense program. There are a few basic things you need to keep in mind to make the most money from adsense.
One important factor is ad relevance, which is simply how related are the adsense ads to the general topic of your page. Make sure your ads that are showing up are relevant and if they are not, maybe you need to add your keyword a few more times in your content, do not spam of course or keyword stuff. If your keyword has many advertisers in adwords (at least 6 or more) then you should get pretty relevant ads. Make sure your keyword is in the title, description and keyword meta tags. Also make sure to add your keyword in an H1 or H2 header tag and sprinkle your keyword throughout the body of your page as naturally as possible. This should be enough to produce relevant ads. Another important aspect is the size of your text, try to get your site text size as close to the size of the adsense text, this will help to blend your adsense into your site. Another good tip to follow is to get the link color of your ads to be the same as the link color of your site. Also make the url color the same as the text color of your site. You want people to notice the headline of the ads and not the url as most headlines are well written and have the best chance of drawing clicks. Use these tips to optimize your site for adsense so that when you do start getting traffic it will convert into more adsense revenue.
